Richard J. GozdawaMPhil., PhD., CEng., FIMechEng. |
- Born into the Polish aristocracy in 1948, Richard Gozdawa spent his early years in Gdansk and Warsaw graduating with an Engineering degree from the University of Warsaw.
- Richard came to England in 1972, married Rosemary and the couple live happily in Middlesex with their five children.
- An initial engineering career contributing to the design of aircraft ejector seats was followed by the design of a water lubricated five stage gearbox, driven by a new design axial flow turbine.
- As his academic career progressed, he was awarded M.Phil in Thermodynamics and a PhD in Dynamics at Brunel University under the distinguished Professor AW Crook. He was also made a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering.
- His groundbreaking high-speed compressor rotor designs in the late 1970s heralded the birth of the compact, integrally geared centrifugal compressor.
- Awarded “Best Manager” by Henley College of Management, he led his senior staff, developing new advances in computational mathematics, stress and machine dynamics.
- His development of advanced computer applications in coupled high order polynomials led to an invitation to work in the USA. Design of new industrial compressors, steam and gas turbines followed.
- Innovation continued after returning to the UK in 1985 with the design of innovative fluid bearings for turbo-machinery, this while teaching applied mathematics in engineering, at Brunel University.
- The complete design of a 1Mw overhung centrifugal compressor was followed by design work for power-generation, petroleum and turbo machinery manufacturers in Germany, Switzerland and France. This resulted in awards from Barclays, KPMG and German industry.
- Richard’s outstanding innovation has been recognised by the Department of Trade and Industry, Richard having received Silver and Gold Merit Awards on four occasions.
- In 1996 Richard launched a business to produce oil free industrial compressors with the name of Compact Radial Compressors or CORAC.
- In 1998 Richard invited a colleague, Gerry Musgrave to assist him. Gerry became Chairman of the Company which was admitted to the Alternative Investment Market in 2001.
- Richard left the Company in 2002.
- Richard immediately started work designing Gas Turbine generators. In February 2005 Richard founded the Centricomp Group PLC for the purpose of bringing his innovative 250 kW, 500kW and 1 Mw designs to the market.
- Richard and CentriComp Group PLC hold numerous Patents, designs and IP rights around the world.
